CT Handle Accessory

I like the idea of not having to pick up the CT 26 by rolling the unit on the rear wheels from job to job.  Is the handle designed to be used like a hand truck by tipping the unit on the back wheels?

Does the CT Accessory handle remove easily when not needed?  Would be nice to remove it to fit under a shelf either in the shop or trailer.

The handle becomes a somewhat permanent part of the CT being screwed into it.  Yes, you can use it to wheel the CT around, go up and down stairs with it and such.  Just don't treat it like a hand truck and both will last a long time.

The handle is not meant as a hand truck. That kind of abuse will break it quickly. The handle is meant to gently roll the vac around the shop.

I don't think the handle is meant to be tilted back like a hand truck all the time, seems like it could break if it was a regular practice.

Stack a few systainers on top and it is perfect height for pushing at least for me anyways.

For what it's worth, I have the CT 36 with a SYS 5 holding the components and 36mm hose inside.  I use the handle to take that up and down stairs frequently.  It flexes some from its rest position, but I've never had it break or sound like it would.  The only thing I've noticed are the pins from the SYS 5 lid work out a little from the flexing and movement.

I called Festool about this question.  They said its intended to be used by tilting the unit on the back wheels to go over stairs and such.  The guy said he has seen individuals who stack systainers on top and us it in this manner daily and haven't had problems. 

The more I think about it...if it wasn't intended to be used in such a manner Festool would specify for warranty issues.

This is why I returned my CT36 handle.   I previously had the Bosch Airsweep, and although I slightly prefer the CT36, I really miss the Bosch's lightweight (aluminum) removable handle.  

Bosch also offers an optional wire basket that hangs on the handle, which makes the handle even more functional.

I recently posted a thread on this subject. I'd love to see an improved handle design in the future.

As for pulling the vac up stairs, I personally find it easier to just pick it up & carry it.  The narrow design makes this easy. (Much better than the Bosch's shape.)  For me, the handle just added extra weight.
