CT MIDI Red light

Hi all,

I'm hoping for some help troubleshooting an issue with my MIDI extractor. It is about 4 years old, and just out of warranty.

Recently the vac shut off during use and displayed a red light on the screen. I turned the vac off and then back on to restart and it works for a few minutes before turning off again and going red. The vac is producing suction, and turns on via auto start with a tool or manual, but continues to shut off on its own after a few minutes. When the vacuum turns itself off it will still send power to the tool.

I have emptied the bag, cleaned the filter, and tried plugging into various outlets to rule out the most obvious causes. I have also checked behind the control panel for any loose connections, frayed wires, or any other visual clues.

Has anyone had this issue with their extractor?

I should have mentioned that I have been doing this, but have continued to have this issue so I think something else is going on.

I can reset the circuit breaker (green on / off button) and the vac will run for a few more minutes before turning off and showing the red light again. I should add that it doesn't matter what tool is being used, or if the vacuum is being used in manual mode.

Anyone have this issue before?

This exact problem happened to me too. I purchased mine just over a year ago. I did everything you did also, emptying bag, cleaning filter. What finally fixed it was detaching the hose from vacuum port and attaching it to blower port. When I turned on the power, several large particles shot out from the hose. I let it blow air out for a minute or so just to make sure everything is out. I think the large particles inside the hose was weakening suction power and overheating the machine. Thus tripping circuit breaker. After that, my CT MIDI was working just like new.
