Hi guys,

Question:
Both my CT-Minis have those add on plug conversions. To be honest, they are a pain in the butt! A couple of days ago, for some reason, one of the metal prongs broke off and made it off course unusable. Getting a replacement is not the issue. I also don't expect Festool to send me one for free. What I'm wondering is, if these extensions have another function or would it be save to get a normal plug fitted directly to the CT cord?

Thanks!

Andreas

Andreas, the pigtail is used to convert from a 20a plug to a 15a plug.  There is no additional functionality with the pigtail.

Edit: if you have 20a outlets available, the pigtail is not even necessary.  A 20a outlet/plug has one prong turned horizontal.

There was a thread a few weeks back and many members cut off the plug and put a modular 15A on it.  I'm guessing the 20A was a UL thing because with a big tool plugged into the vac it could haul more then 15A.
