So I have been having a heck of a week tool wise, compressor ,finish gun,and back up compressor broke this week.
And now my power cord on my CT-26 broke the round ,ground probe. I was winding up the cord and it slapped the ground and shot out.
Question(s) how important is that probe? ( I suspect it is)
2:where in the EKAT can I find the part number?
Been looking and no love.
Thanks in advance ,
Charlie
PS I hope everyone is safe and not going stir crazy.

It sounds like the ground prong on the power cord broke off, is that correct?

200857 - Cable with plug (this looks like the power cord to me)

496252 - Cable harness CT/CTL (this wire harness looks to me to be internal to the CT)

This seems to be a common thing.  Mine broke off about a year ago.  Sent it in to Festool (still under warranty) and they replaced the cord.  They also went over the entire unit replacing some parts here and there including the turbine.

In terms of whether you could get an electrical shock it depends on if you use double insulated tools or not. As far as she vac itself, it’s so well insulated by massive amounts of abs plastic I can’t think of how you could come in contact with line voltage even is a wire inside came loose.

So, in practical use, the worst thing you’ll notice is that your anti-static hose isn’t as AS anymore. It will still attract less dust than a non AS hose but I’d go ahead and replace the cord’s plug to get that ground connection back.

You really have 3 viable options:

1. spring for a replacement cord from Festool

2. It's just the plug. Snip that puppy off and go to your favorite local big box, hardware or electrical supply place and buy a 15 amp heavy duty replacement plug and fit that piece on the remaining cord.

3. If you want a molded on plug and don't want to pay the bucks for a Festool branded option. You can replace the whole cord with a similarly sized extension cord. The CT26 cord is I believe 12 AWG. This option would probably involve sourcing and crimping on the proper connectors, but it is doable.

Personally I'd opt for option 2.

Forget about the too expensive Festool replacement plug, they're of subpar quality apparently. You are the third person mentioning this in just a short time. So better get a new plug from a respectable brand instead.

Just replace the plug.

In relation to your earth (ground) connector/spade, it provides earth continuity not just to the machine itself, but to the vac's power outlet as well:  ergo to each & every tool connected to the vac as well.

Given that the majority of tools will be double insulated, denoted by a 2 concentric squares symbol on the tool's type plate, it's irrelevant, however in the minority of tools that may require earth continuity (some lights, heaters, core drills & other appliances with ferrous and alloy diecast casings, or fitted with an inline residual current (earth leakage) safety device, it's potentially quite dangerous to operate without an adequate earth.

In these instances, the lack of antistatic continuity would be the least of your problems.  I'd recommend plug replacement post haste.
