Good Evening Ladies and Gentleman,
I came around from the german forums because it seems that in the US there is much more experience with the CT SYS - or at least people are more willing to share their experiences.
Currently I don‘t own any portable dust extractor suitable for woodworking, from time to time it would be very comfortable to reduce the amount of dust generated, when using track saw, router, biscuit joiner and (various) sanders away from the workshop.
The Sys‘s small footprint is very appealing, because I haul around tools from the workshop to my home and vice versa a lot - without owning a car - in the summer on a bike trailer, which is 60cm*40cm, and fits two Systainers (30cm*40cm) perfectly, if cycling is uncomfortable also by bus, for what I use a 40cm by 30cm sized handcart.
Most tools are packed in Systainers/Makpacks, so on the Point of Portability the CT SYS is a Winner (for me).
On the other Hand I also want to use the CT SYS in the Workshop, because the existing High Volume Extractor there does not perform very well on Hand Tools, since it can‘t generate enough negative Pressure.
For those tasks the volume of the CT SYS‘ filter bag is a little low - but after seeing the CT VA, it seemed like a good idea to add a cyclone to the CT SYS as a workaround.
Probably not a CT-VA because of the ridiculous price, but something similar selfmade, fitting inside a Systainer, so taking it outside of the Workshop is also possible.
On Youtube there is a Video of a Guy using the CT Sys with the CT Vas On Youtube there is this Video of a Guy using the CT SYS with the CT-VA. He‘s reporting the grade of extraction is similar to his CT26, which sounds quite good.
On the other Hand he has done actually no testing with Tools attached, so may the CT SYS will suffer from lower aiflow and suction, further reduced by the cyclone, when working with real tools, and not just sucking up dirt for testing.
Any thoughts on this?
Will the CT Sys in general handle the Dust generated by Track Saw and Router well enough?
Or would it be wise to go with a CT Mini, and it’s higher Airflow and Suction, while also bearing the reduced Portability in mind?
Kind regards, Flo.
