Hi Folks,

I bought a CT22 extractor and a TS75 plunger around 2010 and I have not used them very much. I really like the saw and the rail system. The dust extractor, however, developed a short fairly early on and due to my hobbyist status, I never addressed the problem. When I contacted Festool USA a few years ago, I was told that it would cost me $125 plus shipping for them to address it even though it was still in warranty. Sometimes I can get it to start up by giving the area around the switches a gentle bump. I really don't want to tear into this thing and I don't want to have to pay a lot for something that should have just worked correctly from the beginning. My much older Fein has had a lot more use and has never failed me. I want to like Festool's entire system, but I'd really like to see a simple resolution to this issue. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi,

  Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

If it was still under warranty, and in the second or third year you would have had to pay shipping to Festool (one way) and that is all.

Something doesn't seem right about what you were told.

Seth

Like Seth said, there would be no charge for repairs during the first three years of ownership unless the damage was caused by the customer or there was something else that made it a non-warranty repair.

First, [welcome] to the FOG. I'm sorry that your first post had to be about a problem, but sometimes that is what brings people here.

Shane and Seth are both excellent resources. I am only a user like yourself, but I have found Festool to be quite reasonable about supporting their customers when there are problems. If you haven't already done so, may I suggest you call Festool Service: 800-554-8741 and give them a chance to try to help you?
