Maybe you could try the self-cleaning bag from the CT26 in your CT33 to get round the oversize problem?

I think that Chris is using the CT36 bags because he also has a 36 and doesn't want to purchase additional size bags.

You would think Festool would offer bags for the old vacs in the new material. I can see no reason other than to strong arm people into buying the newer model. I'm sure that is the logic behind why they won't. And I'm confident they will have a nice technical reason to offer the consumer for not doing so. Harrumph.  [sad]

Other then the 22/33 was not designed with these bags in mind.

You know the black plastic cap on the 22/33 bags that's intended to keep the contents from being widely dispersed?  Well, be sure that it's properly seated when removing a full bag.  Guess you could call them self-cleaning.  Don't ask me how I know...

Thanks for the excellent tip, Chris.  I ran out of paper bags and decided to try the selfclean bags like you did.  Naturally 2 weeks after I ordered the 5-count box it was announced that the CT-22 versions would be available Oct 1.  Then again, my last paper bag that I taped bricked itself this week (er, I guess I did it...) so time for the PVC cement.

Two things...

First, the new bags for the CT 22/33 are not self-cleaning. They are just a heavy duty fleece bag. Side-by-side, you can see that these bags are not the same as the material used for the self-cleaning bags for the MINI/MIDI/26/36/48. The CT 22/33 will probably never have a self-cleaning bag because of the design of the internals of the machine.

Second, the new bags are available to dealers now, not October 1st.

Ah, good to know... I wasn't certain of the selfclean or not.  Might have to make a better adapter then   If anything the 3 liters of "buffer before brick" will be nice, unless I overdo that, too  [embarassed]

I thought they weren't released until October 1st. Bob's page for those bags states "You won't be charged until this product ships 10/1/2011"

I think what Shane is saying is although the bag is self-cleaning the shape of the older vac's tub doesn't allow the bag to work properly to self clean.  In other words, the only advantage you get with the self-cleaning bag is the more resilient material the bag is made out of but the that's new fleece bags will take care of that.  Well, I guess Chris has the advantage of stocking one bag instead of two.

Peter, welcome to the forum. The primary difference is the design and configuration of the internals of the machine. The bag lays flat in the "bucket" and the filter is above causing it to inflate and deflate. Additionally, the bag material is different from the materials used in CT 22/33 bags which are paper or a heavy duty fleece material.

Thanks for the welcome and reply. Does the inside of the CT36/26 look that much different than the inside of the CT33? I just ordered the fleece bags before I saw this thread. The paper bag that my CT33 came with got a hole in it and made a mess inside. I may also need to buy the filter elements. Do you guys think the HEPA decreases the suction verses the regular 1 micron filter elements?
