CTL Midi doubling as a house vac

Hoping to pull the trigger on this but have been trying to satisfy management that it can double as the house vac. The 15yr old dyson is on it's last legs.
Worried about filling the bags too often. We don't actually vac that much as we have wood floors and a relatively small 2 bed home. The minor vac work is done by the handheld dyson (which is seriously perfect!).
Thoughts?

It sounds sensible to me.

However if "we" is a significant other, I would suggest you consult you other half.
I base this on past experience(s) as sometimes their perspective is worth knowing. [embarassed]

The plastic FT gear seems a bit 3rd world, and the chrome plated or stainless is not given away.
So I am using an old set of gear from an expired Miele for the wand and floor pieces.

I makes sense to me for a house with HW floors, as you do not need to shake the carpet. I believe that the Miele go through a HEPA as well, so that is a tie.

Do it!!!  Its a great vac for around the house.  I use one with the 36mm hose and a turbo suction brush for my carpeted floors and a regular floor nozzle for everything else.  For house dust it will take a long time to fill a bag.

Yes, management is significant other! She actually said that it's not too expensive given that we paid $450 for the little hand held, so I'm already half way there, it was just the question about how effective it will be and what attachments it has. I get your point re. the plastic stuff but guess it keeps the weight and cost down. Mention chrome or stainless and FT in the same sentence equals $$$$.
Cheers for the feedback.

My CT26 is now my go to house vac.  It's especially great to have the long hose and wand on stairs and ceiling corners that collect cobwebs and dust.  Turbo suction brush works great on cat-hairy carpets -- though when I asked people on the FOG about it prior to purchase some noted that there are some non-Festool corded carpet cleaning accessory options that are even better (they are expensive, however).  I haven't been disappointed with the functionality of the plastic wand set-up, though I keep my set mostly at home and don't put it through any jobsite abuse.

[member=54871]Zebt[/member] It feels like a toy with the plastic bits, but like a real vac with the metal.
If you can score the metal ones from a tip-shop or garage sale, or Salvos, then it is good. Or lash out for the kit in the systainer.
That whacks the costs up, but it may lessen frustration.

My wife steals my midi all the time to vacuum the floors inside the house.  Shes  convinced that when our vacuum for the house breaks shes going to buy her own midi.

I recently had a clinet that was so impressed with the midi during the duration of her job, she asked her son for a midi for Christmas.

I use my 22 as a house vac if I've been working on that level and have it out.

I think it cleans better than my Miele, and the cord and longer hose lets you really park the vac in one room and clean the next four easily. I use the Miele metal wands. Only sticking point is where the Festool hose end slides into the Miele wand. It would be nice if that was a tighter fit. But as long as you keep your hand on that connection, it works just fine.

I have one of my CT Minis dedicated for cleaning the house. It's the only vac I own for the purpose. I have the really long 36mm hose, so with the vac sitting in the living room, I can reach the whole living room, kitchen, back hallway, and all the way up the stairs without moving the vac. I have to carry it up stairs to clean the bedrooms, though.

The bags last a lot longer than you'd think. At the rate I am going, I pretty much have a lifetime supply of them on-hand. I have the steel tubes and turbo suction head.

I think I will go for the kit, $890.00, steep but if it lasts 15 yrs then $59 a year is a bargain!! I reckon my aluminium dyson extending tube and head will fit (or i'll make something connect it).
