CTL Midi or CTL22.

Following on from my TS55 purchase I am considering a new vacum system and and considering both CTL midi and CTL22. It will only really be used on site and as such will be carried in my van daily so the midi has the edge size-wise being smaller. However it will be used with all my gear at times including planer, router, TS55, etc so needs to have enough suction to cope with tasks that create more waste.
Anyone using a midi or CTL22 as a site vac? Any advise would be appreciated.  [smile]

I have the CTL Midi and it is great with sanding, routing with the OF1010 and sawing with the TS55.

However my view is that it doesn't quite cut it when using a high waste volume machine like the planer or the OF2200 but as some threads on the FOG have suggested such tools really need the 36mm hose to provide the extraction rat required with these.

I am thinking of the CTL 26 with a tradesmans cleaning kit so you get the 36mm hose included.

I have both. The 22 and the Mini, that is. The 22 doesn't leave the house anymore and I only take it out when I use my CS70 tablesaw in the backyard. On site I solely use the Mini, mostly with my sanders, but also with my CS70, DW circular saw and DW router when needed, without any problems.  I have no car of course so that's the main reason I prefer to take the Mini with me instead of the 22. Transporting the Mini works ..... on a bicycle, the 22 ..... not so. If I had a car, I think I'd take the 22 with me just as easily. But I love the Mini for it's compactness. Just as big as a sys 5 systainer.

I have the midi and its great works fine with my ts55, of1010 and ehl65 planer and many other non Festool tools.

I also have the mini, and have tried the midi.
I use the mini on all festools I have, and there's no problem. Now you can also have a hepa filter for the mini. I also use it for wet vacuming,  and it works nice, but cannot be used as a combined carpetcleaner, though. I use it anyway for that too.
What I really like is the quietness of the mini, and it's compactness which means that I can easily carry it up and down stairs to, say 5'th floor. Others may say they think the bags fill too quickly, but to me it's not an issue at all as I don't use the TS55 and the OF1010 very much, but more the PS300 and the sanders.
I have a normal small compact Golf, and I can just pop it into the luggagecompartment, even though there's a big fat alu-bar across the space. No problem, and together with a load of systainers, I can very easily go and do my work anyplace.
I also feel it's worth  mentioning, that I use a 7 meter extension cord (green) together with an extra green hose, so I can reach 7 meters, or stay up a ladder and still have the mini in another room for example. Really great for comfort of noise and that I don't step down onto the mini  [wink]
The compactness and quietness is the thing with the mini (plus a hepa).

The Midi was one of the better purchases this year.  I leave my 22 in the shop now, the Midi is more than enough for what I need on site and is soo much easier to transport.  When I need more chip collection, I use the 36 hose with a cyclone.

I guess if I was going to be on site for a long period the 22 would be nice for the boom arm, but not for the extra ooomph.

Thanks all, sounds like the midi might be fine......which is good as it's smaller and cheaper than the 22.  [smile]

If you can only have one there is no comparison for me, it has to be the 22. It is the total opposite than many describe here apparently. If anything the little vac stays home and the 22 goes out(I rarely do anymore), the midi just does not have the balls to rely on it for every dust situation that comes up in someone's home. I can't leave dust left behind and do not want to have to change bags on site or do a lot of clean up because the vac missed a lot of dust. If I have to do some planing or routing it has to be the 22, if not the 33.
