Ctl midi suction?

I've just received my used ctl midi that I brought on eBay (£180) it looks in really good condition & think it's the newest model with T LOC. The only thing is it's not very powerful!!
A few shavings fell out the hose onto the carpet when I unpacked it and the ctl didn't really pick it up.  I plugged in my henry & noticed the difference in power & was disappointed.
Do I need to change filter?? Or is this normal?

Mmm..mine would suck a golf ball through a...well you know how it goes...?
Check it's turned up to high first.
Check bag isn't full.
Check hose isn't choked.
Filter should be ok but you can take it out and check / give it a tap on side of the bin in case?

Ok thanks for reply, I've had it on full whack & bag is empty. If they are supposed to be as powerful as you say then il check filter & hose & then maybe contact seller

The  midi isn't te most powerful vac by far, but it should pick any shavings without problem. If it doesn't something is seriously wrong.

I find it hard to believe though that your Midi would be of the new type. You can hardly find them new, let alone used. Got a pic?

Welcome to the FOG!  [smile]

See how the suction is at the inlet. Remove the hose from the vac. The 90 elbow comes out. It is a tight fit but grab the sides , wiggle and twist.  If the suction is good at the inlet then you will know that the hose is plugged. Unlikely that the filter is the culprit.

Agree with above suggestions.
As shavings falling out of hose - does suggest a blockage; maybe at
right-angle bend.  Are the shavings yours?? How big are they??
If necessary (sort of belt & braces approach) would remove filter, hose, bag, and 90
elbow.  Ensure suction good, and, that speed control working ok.
Then one at a time, replace filter, elbow, bag, hose - checking that suction good at each stage.
Finally - test again with whatever tool you initially had connected to it.
All Festools are pretty robust - would be surprised if faulty.
