I only have 2-3 tools that are not 110v, the only pain is the transformer as they tend to be heavy.
I have used 110 in the rain & have had a few tingles [eek] but if my memory serves me right the biggest shock you can have from 110v is 55 volts as I think it's ac not dc.
I have all different makes of tool Hilti, Festool, Bosch, Makita, Wolf, Elu & a few others and have never had an issue with them being underpowered, as with any tool as long as it's sharp it is fine.
If in the shop it's not a problem as we have a transformer left ready to work.
As regards to PAT testing I don't think its a legal requirement yet, but is deemed to be good practice & most bigger sites or councils etc require tools to be tested.
Personally I think it's another money making deal, but it does stop the idiots who have wires damaged or hanging out of the tool :o

Certain tools are massivly underpowered, dewalt 712 chop saw is 1 of them. It works great in 240v and 110v is crap, utter crap. The 24v version is good tho

Yeah i have used the small makita and its great in 110v, just some tools are aweful but there is no excuse for it as it can be done

ok you are not mad. that shouldnt be  like that.
on the bright side. that is the user pic of reiska(a fog member) so its not too bad.
im not sure how to fix it but i presume some file is corupted  etc. throw away th ecomputer and buy a new one.
or try rebooting it.

I ve got all 110 stuff and found that the power is fine as long as your 110 extension is not too long . I ve made loads of little 110 extension cords 2m, 3m etc so I can use the shortest amount possible so to not get any voltage drop. As someone else has pointed out you also have to have a transformer that's got enough juice, something like 3.5 kva.

I have used Deans circular 110v which was fine plenty power.  I think it was 110v wasnt it Dean?!

but its mainly dewalt who seems to fail on 110v they just dont seem to have the power some are so bad u might as well not bother with them.  All good saying as long as ur blade is sharp etc it shouldnt mater that aint the point plus its not practical to constantly have a razor sharp blade all the time. It should cut even with a not so sharp blade.

LOL, that's Reiska, a regular member here. I think your iPhone app is doing something wrong here. The FOG doesn't look like those screenshots at all on my end.

Hi,

OK that profile pic  problem is just plain weird. Please let us know if the reboot works, or if you discover it to be an i-phone problem.  I will make Shane aware in case it is a system thingy.

Seth

Shane recommended to go under Settings > Safari> Clear Cookies and Data.
its back to normal.
