CT's Dust Extractors and carpet?

Out of curiousity how do the CT's perform when vacuuming carpet?  Of course with the vacuum tube attachments.

I use my mini to vacuum the family Honda CR-V, as well as some carpet I have laying in the  garage.  It does a pretty good job.  It's satisfying to hear all the debris falling into my dust deputy.

How do they work in the house carpet?

I use that Festool turbo brush, a 36mm AS hose and a CT22 to clean the carpet of my condo routinely. I really like the fact the discharged air has gone through a HEPA filter and that because with the 36mm hose I do not need to run the CT all the way up on the suction selector, in use that CT22 is so quiet.

I have a CT mini that is dedicated to cleaning up around the main part of the house. It has the long 36mm hose, steel wand, and turbo head. It's the only vacuum that can keep up with the supper thin, long dog hair from my ex-wife's dog. It's destroyed 3 or 4 other vacuums, with no negative signs on the CT. The CT also has far more power than any other household vac. The turbo head and long hose are definitely worth the extra investment. I like that I only need to move it about 10 feet to reach all of the different rooms on each level.

I just picked up a used CT22 for the house.  The main reason was for the hardwood floors and tiled areas but we have a few area rugs and it works great and I don't have the turbo brush.  I have three very large dogs that shed quite a bit and it gets the hair out of the carpets.

My wife discovered my mini and now I hardly ever see it any more.  Good thing I have the CT26 as well.  I had plans for using both, but am back to a single Festool vacuum again!  She uses it on both rugs and hardwood using the cleaning set.

I don't necessarily agree with that: we just bought a Miele (made in Germany) built like a tank, 5 year warranty, 7 years on the motor. While I love my CT, I really think the Miele has just as much suction. Certainly feels like it doing the old hand over the hose test. The Miele is also certified HEPA, has electrically adjustable suction, as quiet or quieter than a CT, etc. etc. - also comes with a motorized power head for carpets that is outstanding for carpet witht dog hair, etc. . Mind you the Miele is expensive - about the same as a CT with full cleaning kit but I think it's much better suited for  everyday "household" use than the CT's as great as they are.

I would also put my Sebo (also mad in Germany) up against it also

Less than a month before I bought my first TS55 in combo with a CT22, I replaced an old home vac with a mighty Miele. However, back then I supervised the graveyard shift for a major motion picture lab, meaning I got off work at 4:30 AM wide awake. My new Miele was too noisy to use in the condo until after 8 AM, at which point I needed to sleep. But, with the turbo brush and 36mm hose I could turn the suction down on the CT22 so the sound did not disturb anyone and the cleaning action was effective. Of course to match the Miele I need to turn up the CT22, but when I am home and awake after 8 AM I use the Miele. After 5 PM I use the CT22.

Me neither. I have the old CT Mini and in my opinion it's not strong enough for general house cleaning. The CTL 26 is a lot better. But I have used many home vacs that were a lot stronger than the 26.

But the CT's filters are by far superior. When I use a normal home vac indoors I always want a door or a window wide open, and even then I can smell the dust in the air for hours after. With the CT's, there's nothing. Makes a world of difference for me.

We have a couple of Dysons that are supposed to have top class filtration - but I don't think they're as kind to the air at the CT's

One of the Dysons is an upright and that's used on the outside pavers for dog hair.

My brother in law once raved about Nilfisk ... Though he's also switched to Festool of late.

I'm certain I saw something about using a power head of another brand on a CT somewhere ??

I looked at Dysons.  No way their filtration is as good as vacs like CT's Miele, etc. Also with Dyson, you have to dump an open dust canister. With vacs like Miele, they have a self sealing high filtration bag which emits  zero dust when removed as well as full Hepa filtration plus another filter.

My wife discovered my CT worked so and that is why I got the second CT.  Of coarse along with the CT came an ETS 150/3 and several clamps

Keep in mind that the new/current MINI/MIDI have the same power section as the bigger vacs. Our MIDI is the best vacuum cleaner we've ever had, including a Kirby 7-series. Without the turbo brush, it won't do deep carpet. Thinner commercial carpets are just fine, but the plush stuff in fancy houses gives it a problem without the turbo brush.

Alto uses the same Turbo floor nozzle as Festool....see http://www.ultimategarage.com/shop/part.php?cPath=25_92&products_id=3548 .  A little cheaper but it doesn't say Festool on it.  These tools (both the Festool and Alto version) became very popular when the EPA RRP rquirements kicked in 2 years ago.  There's even a smaller version for auto detailing (its more expensive as it has to be special ordered from Germany)........see http://www.ultimategarage.com/shop/part.php?cPath=25_91&products_id=618
