Hey guys,

Can someone tell me if Festool manufactures custom hoses to length, but keeping the same diameter that they normally make?
For example if I wanted a 36mm X 1.5 meter hose, can I get it?

Regards,
Dan

We don't make custom hose lengths to order. However, you can take a hose and make it shorter by removing the connector, cutting to length, and then reattaching the connector.

festool hose is available in various diameters in either non or antistatic variations  and is sold by the metre along with the same options with  hose ends, you would have to order them through Europeen dealer network.

Hello festoolfootstool,
Actually I thought I read that from someone on your side of the pond. That was why I posed the question here? I think Shane's idea will hopefully suffice. Actually I am presently working in Europe (Ireland) at the moment. Thanks.

Hi Dan
You could buy the 3.5m hose cut it, buy two further end fittings so you have two hoses

Dan, Festool sells long lengths of hose in some places, but not in North America.

I find that my Kapex all work best with a shorter hose than the 36mm x 3.5M. So what I do is buy the 36mm x 7M hose plus 2 each of the 36mm vac and tool ends. I cut a piece 2.33M long to start with and put the appropriate ends on both pieces. That short hose I find ideal for the Kapex and the remainder is long enough to be of use cleaning. When I need another hose for a Kapex I cut the longer piece in half and again put the appropriate ends on both halves.

My experience is that the end parts last a very long time. Over the last several years I have only needed to buy 6 each of the 2 kinds of 36mm hose ends.

That's what I did recently. I have a 1.75m 36mm hose for my Kapex, and a spare that I originally intended to sell on eBay, but never got around to listing. I'm sure I'll find a use for it someday!

Johnny,

Glad to know cutting a 3.5M x 36mm hose in half rendered a hose long enough to be effective for a Kapex.

My experience has been that when the CT is on the floor close to the Kapex a slightly longer hose is needed to allow the full range of motion by the saw.

If somehow the CT could be suspended above the Kapex, then a shorter hose would be effective.

When I first bought my original Kapex I had not yet bought the building I turned into my shop. Back then I was renting space in shops belonging to others on a project by project basis. I calculated the price of a 7M x 36mm hose and some fittings was less that finding a way to suspend a CT from the overhead trusses.

But everyones location, way of working and experiences will differ.

To clarify, I have a CT Mini which is used primarily for the Kapex, and it's stored right next to the Kapex. With the hose coming out of the top, it's more than long enough, but it would NOT be long enough to go into the front of my CT26 if that were in the same position.

What he said abou the CTs.
-------------------------------
I made my Kapex hose about 4.5 feet. It is long enough  to use with CT Mini / Kapex MFT  combination. The CT goes right under the MFT Kapex with the hose going straight up at the back edge of the table. This is just long enough with the CT in the right spot.  Doing it over I would have made it 5 feet long to allow a little more freedom of positioning for the CT.  I also bought two rotating connectors (vac end ) along with a hose to hose connector and made the extra seven feet into an extension hose to use with a D27 or D36 for shop clean up or just to reach farther  to a tool if needed.

Dan, are you making a Kapex hose or something else?

Seth

Seth,

I am kinda doing things a little differently. My workshop is not finished yet. I am trying to get as much of Festool as I can in the process. I have the floor to finish in my shop and then I am moving everything in. That said, I have the kapex as well as many other Festool power tools. I just ordered the 36 X 3.5 m hose from LV. I also have the Clearvue CV1800 as well. For now my plan is to use the kapex with the 36 mm hose with my CT 26 and then when I have finished the first project, a workbench against the wall where the kapex will park, I want to cut the hose and use it to connect to the Clearvue Cyclone. The other thing is, I have the ultimate dust deputy and have read about the static on it and I want to cut a custom length to go from the 26 to the inlet of the cyclone. But before I do that I want to see if this new anti-static hose for UDD is ok or junk. That is another story for another time.

Regards,
Dan

Actually, let me change my response slightly. It may be possible to order a length from the service department as a spare part. Let me check on it.

Ok, I got a response back from the service department manager and it is not available even as a spare part in custom lengths. Sorry.

Johnny, when a CT is to be used below a Kapex, having the 36mm hose enter from above, as is the case with a Mini or Midi, is ideal. The Kapex does not produce chips and relatively little dust, so you can do a whole lot of sawing per Mini bag.  That certainly is a case where half of a 36mm x 3.5M hose is long enough.

Shane, I did not take the time to look up the two appropriate 36mm AS ends. Could you share that information.
