Custom Tool Inserts for CMS

Hi!
Greetings!

I'm thinking about purchasing a CMS-VL and interested in fabricating a custom CMS insert to hold a tool.  What's would be the best means of creating the insert?

Is there a CMS insert blank that I can cut to my liking?  Have folks just made their own insert from scratch and from what materials?  Or has no one done this...

I don't have the CMS-VL yet, so it's hard for me to visualize or take measurements.

Thanks!
Steve

According to EKAT, that is a "Profile Plate" part number 495528 and sells for $147.68....

I'd probably make it out of something else unless you really want it to match :D

Ah, yes, I see that profile plate part.  Is it ribbed?  That might cause an issue with material sliding across the plate.

In order to lock the plate it looks like you also need to add two $21.19 bolts [eek] and a few cheap washers.

If someone can measure it, generally how thick is the aluminum on the CMS insert plates?

Thanks for the link, Garry!

So, a blank module insert plate would be 578mm×320mm×4.5mm to fit the CMS opening.  Any features to stiffen the plate, attach a tool, or lock the plate to the CMS rails would be additional.

I am very surprised it's only 4.5mm thick!  It's typical to see twice that thickness on third-party manufacturer tool support plates, e.g. router table insert plates.
