I believe that by "stressed skin design", Peter is referring to a torsion box. Similar to a hollow core door.

Spot on - many thanks.

I'm afraid my head has fallen off trying to deal with BOOK shelf and WATERPROOF ply. What kind of books are these? Do the pages tend to stick together?

In England:
I once tried to price up some simple "cabinet grade" birch ply at my local sawmill...
The guys went into a huddle and came out laughing and spluttering.
I've forgotten the price they gave me but I went away and built the job in solid wood. It was WAY cheaper.
Last time I bought a piece of oak it was loaded into the car by a security team with walkie talkies....

Very impressive bookshelf Peter! Great design. [tongue]

What I like most is the very important book on one of the shelves.... "Good Beer Guide 2005"! [big grin]

Cheers,

Frank

P.S. I have again contributed to your wallet. I got up to our house in Georgia where I have a bunch of stuff to do over the next month. I thought I had packed up all the tools and accessories I would need, but realized that I left my bench dogs in Florida! Grrrrr.  So....back to Lee Valley to quickly order another set of your Parf Dogs. You lucky dog, you!! [big grin] [wink]

Very many thanks Frank - on both counts.

Did you have the opportunity to experience clinamen 2013 after it was finished?  I'd think it would be visually and aurally stunning.

Okay, maybe I should give up, make it out of steel, and veneer it!

@Mr Heavy & @Cheese - yes we were there after the installation was finished. It was really quite something! My favourite moment was being there in the evening, with low lighting and no general public. It sounded beautiful, and was a very Zen experience!

*edit: tagging people in Tapatalk? Perhaps not.
