Welcome to the forum BOXNOG !  [smile]

Yes, but is he still there? I would love to know what he has discovered about his setup after all the advice above.

I don't think BOXNOG has logged in since joining yesterday. Probably not used to the FOG response time on a forum  [smile]

I know what you mean Seth. When I used to write for the UK magazine "The Woodworker" I felt obliged to visit their blog - I just took a look when I saw your post - it said "...members active in the last 20 minutes - Steven" - just one guy! I posted something there about 18 months ago and my post is still the most recent for that thread. The term - "dead from the neck" up comes to mind.

I really enjoy taking a few minutes now and then to keep up to date with things on the FOG.

What is a tranny? Transformer?

Yup in this case  [eek]

I took my USA tools over here and they've been working fine using the tranny

I agree with Andrew above... Check to make sure the blade is on the right direction.

Have you cut other materials?

Cheers. Bryan.

Not a backward saw blade, but I had a lawn customer who told me our mowing job was much too neatly done.  She said they were from England (I mean no offense to you Brits)and were used to a much rougher lawn.  In fact her husband had been mowing the lawn himself, until he had hired me, and his cutting was jet the way she liked it.  I had noticed how rough it had looked before I had gotten there for our first mowing.  It was "real bad" in my own poor opinion.  After my conversation with the Mrs., while my crew was loading our equipment back onto the truck, I went out and investigated the owner's tractor.  It was good model, even tho a little large to be maneuverable on their lawn area.  I did not, however, thing size was the problem.  I eventually got on my knees so I could peer under the deck.  It was then that I realized why the woners cut had been so rough.  He had the blades upside down.  Those who don't know yet the problem:  With blades upside down it means he was cutting with the backsides of the blades. ::)

When I told the lady the problem, she sort of agreed that i did not need to turn my mower upside down.  We ended up mowing for them for five or six more years until they moved away. By then, i am pretty sure she was finally comfortable with the way we do things on this side of the pond.

BTW:  I agree with the thought mentioned that the blade might be on backwards.  Don't even think of asking how I know.  [scared]

Festool blades are one of the few, if not the only blade where all the info is on the outside of the blade when installed properly. All the other saws and blade combos I have ever used puts the info towards the saw body.

It should cut it fine unless the blade is dirty or dulled.  My TS55 cut like a hot knife in butter when I first got it but seems to be struggling on 18 mm recently.  I have used it a lot in the past three months so I tried cleaning the blade. That didn't help so I'm going to get a new blade and see if that fixes my problem.  Hope you get yours working also.

Just been to that UK blog again and still only one member active in the last 20 minutes - poor chap, it must be so lonely.

Still no sign of the thread originator.

Just for interest - I went to that UK blog again a few minutes ago - "Members active in the last 20 minutes: none"  [popcorn]
