CXS Battery wobble

I don't know maybe I am being nitpicky, but the battery on my CXS wobbles a bit. You can feel it in your hand, and hear it. Just curious if anyones elses does that and thats a normal thing. Almost seems like it's not quite a proper fit or the latch doesn't pull it tight against the drill itself. For $300 I would think it would  have tighter tolerances.

Also, this little drill had some trouble drilling out red oak for rail bolts today with the imperial centrotec bits, which are sharper as a razor. Kinda knocked it down a peg for me. Maybe I am asking too much of the drill, or just picking on it a bit. I want this to be my drill for most of what I do, but maybe I am better off with a C12 or C15.

Would love to hear from others.

Batteries on mine are snug. I've drilled red and white oak with no problems. Same bits.

If the battery is not seating correctly, its not going to get the juice its needs.  Call festool...

Thanks..I verified there is a little play in the battery side to side. anyone else have it? Literally there is an audible wobble when you shake side to side.. Anyway, I am thinking the C12 might be the better overall drill for me since I am going to want to do more than just set screws with this drill and I am not sure the CXS is up to the task. Torque on this is literally half that of the C12.

I used my CXS a little this morning so I had a chance to check for wobble.  There is a small amount a wobble, maybe 1mm, probably less, of side to side movement.  I'd say there's nothing wrong with your CXS.

Use the CXS for the 30 days and see if it works out, if not you can always get the C12 (or C15).

Thanks Brice, appreciate the validation and feedback..I am already leaning towards the c12, although not budgeted for it!! I lean more towards remodel construction projects, and I need the occasional bit of headroom in the drills power capacity. I LOVE the feel of the CXS, it's exactly what i wanted in that sense, but I think will fall a little short for me on the power end.

You have a c12 corrrect?

I have the CXS and a couple T15 drills but another contractor I work with regularly has two of the older C12s.  I use his C12s often but I like the T15's fit in the hand better.  While I really like how the CXS fits in the hand the larger C drills don't have the same appeal to me.  The C12/C15 are larger and fit a lot differently in the hand compared to the CXS.  The C12/15 feel bulky and harder to hold so be sure to hold both T and C styles in your hand before you buy if at all possible.

Thanks! I have messed with the 12 a little, it felt decent enough..The 15 was a little heavier which defeats part of the purpose of what I am trying to do. I have a T handle drill, Panasonic NimH 15.6 which has been very good to me over the years. Seen better days, which is why I am looking, not really for a direct replacement but something more universal but has some sack to drive larger bolts and screws on occasion. 12 seems like it will do that from what I have seen.

While the CXS has a lot of power for its size , the other drills are going to be more all purpose. I have the C12 (older NiCd) The more I use it the more I like it.

Service number is on the tool and in my sig line if you should have any tech questions about the battery deal etc.

Thanks! I am going to get the c12 and have a drill off before I let the CXS go.

Not trying to discourage you from doing that, but Paul-Marcel has already done this in his CXS videos where he compares it to the C12.

Thanks Shane, yeah I saw this, it was good. I am actually just going with the c12, I think (as others have mentioned) it's a better all around drill for me right now.
