I like the belt clip.   

Agreed, that belt clip is killer.  As it is on all the new tools.  Does anyone else out there have a reversible belt clip that's simple and quick or na?  I don't believe so.  So simple yet so brilliant.

It doesn't come in the set, and is not yet available as an accessory.
Me personally find it very handy, (kitchen cabinets etc.) Is it due to the slim
design of the CXS??

I think it's been mentioned before in this thread [tongue] but the C and T series chucks do not fit the CXS.

There is no offset chuck for the CXS, nor is there ever likely to be one. The head of the CXS is narrower than on the C and T series drills, so with the appropriate bit in the chuck you can reach into the corner without an offset chuck. It'll accept all the same bits as the current drills, so centrotec and standard bits.

Just to expand on JRB's response...

The included magnetic bit holder will accept standard hex shank bits. The Centrotec chuck is made for Centrotec bits. The keyless drill chuck will hold any type of bit: Centrotec, 1/4" hex shank wire or ball detent, drill bits, etc.

Not surte where to post this to ask you a question.....
Your earlier post had indicated that there would be a sander assortment available with the new RO 90 sander.  I went to my Woodcraft dealer today to purchase one and they had not heard of the sander assortment baing available with the RO 90????
I said I would wit as Shane had mentioned there would be one available.

They mentioned that there are several other Woodcraft customers who had also expressed the same disapointments  and chose to wait till you guys did package a assortment of abrasives with the new sander.

what is going on?

I'll let Shane give you the official answer but here's one version.  Yes Festool wanted to have an assortment ready in time for the launch but that wasn't able to happen.  If fact there is somewhat of a shortage of round abrasives for the RO90 right now.  I pre-ordered from a popular online retailer well over a month ago and still have received most of the round abrasives.  You can sit tight and see if dealers are going to put together an assortment.

The specifications on the German website have the maximum shank size for the keyless chuck listed at 8mm, which is 5/16 inches.  This seems small for a drill specified to be able to drill 12mm = 1/2 inch in wood.  Is this limitation correct as I thought I read here in English that the chuck size was either 3/8 or 1/2 inch?

If the 8mm specification is correct, then isn't the CXS basically a small screwdriver or are we expected to wait and buy the mythical Centrotec Imperial drill bits?

In the video I posted easier Michael says 8mm chuck but looking at it I'd say it'll hold larger bits than that.

BTW, imperial Centrotec bits are no myth, there is a wood (brad point) set that have been out for some time now. I show them on my site.

Brice, just checked out your site. Love it! Great reviews, you cover the things I need to hear. I was looking forward to the CXS and it still may be worthwhile but I may end up holding out for a new T or C 15 or 18. Just to have the ultimate do anything drill. I'll check em out when they're in the shops

One of my favorite parts of the site is the page about the durability of Festool cordless drills.

....The problem with the Metabo motors was the that the brushes actually wore out, wore down to nothing.  So that is a concern of mine......

On Festool's power tools they use auto stop brushes.  Before these brushes completely ware out they stop the motor preventing any damage.  Just replace the brushes and your good to go.  I'll let Shane ask Lester if the drills use this same type of brush.

Are the brushes user replacable? 

I did get a C12 here in town, and I like it.  It's working out really well.  However, even though it actually weighs a little less than the Metabos we were using, because of the way that the C12 is balanced, it make sit seem like it weaighs more.  I think the CSX might be perfect, even with the brushes.  I know that there is a really good warranty on them, but I saw that the brushes are excluded, that why I was wondering if it's something I can do.  Just buy the brushes (a couple years down the road!) and reaplce them myself, or if it has to be sent in?

Good question. Usually, if a tool has user-replaceable brushes, it's quite obvious as they tend to have the screwdriver slot large grub screws in the side of the motor housing. I haven't seen those on the CXS...

It goes without saying that I LOVE Festools.  I do have to say I'm a bit disappointed (correct me if I'm wrong) with some missing features on the CXS drill.
a)  Not a brushless motor.
b)  Mechanical instead of the wonderful electronic chuck.
c)  The eccentric chuck isn't offered.  The CXS is very compact and the inclusion of an eccentric chuck would "ice the cake" for getting into tight spots.

The Festool engineers no doubt have good reasons for the exclusion of those features -- I'm curious about them.  I love those features on my T15 and I would buy the CXS in a Festool heartbeat if it had them.
