I hate compact drills but, the CXS sure is nice for running in pocket screws and working off a ladder.

I got one a couple of weeks ago and I agree, with it being small and light weight and the long belt clip keeping it secure, it's great when working off a ladder. [thumbs up]

Is a review in the wings?

Yes...

The cxs is an awesome drill.  It is so much smaller in person than it looks in the pictures.  It fits very well in your hands and seems like it has plenty of power.  The attachments go on with ease and the belt clip is amazing.  I hope to do a video on it when I can get a hold of one.

I thought Frank was getting the CXS from them and you were getting the Centrotec Chainsaw?  Testers can switch?  [big grin]

i like my CXS, it's relatively reasonably priced (for a festool!) and i have not yet came across a task that it couldn't handle in assembling.
battery life seems great so far, 2 charges in one month of almost daily use!
i like the fact that compared to other brands, this compact drill can stand up so it doesn't get damaged by laying on the ground.
what bothers me a bit, is that the clutch seems a bit "undersensitive" it's not always possible to find the right setting between driving screws in to deep, or not enough. my bosch GST 10.8 had a much more sensible setting, but the festool has lots more torque, so that could explain it aswell.

I don't seem to have much time to do reviews.

I prefer to keep working and getting things delivered and installed.

Trust me, I would let you guys know if a tool sucked or not.

The CXS has some good things working in it's favor, specifically the keyless chuck and the 90 degree chuck.

I also like the RO90 but, I find I never use it in the delta mode.

I have destroyed one sanding pad and broken the edge guard though.

The Cxs is amazing for assembly work, mine will last 2 days generally per charge, with fairly consistent use, I love it, my bigger driver only ever comes out now if I'm driving large screws, fantastic product although more suited to installations and assembly.

Shane,

I know you posted earlier that this drill has electronics to prevent damage to the motor, but does this also apply to the battery?

Will the CXS work similar to the T15, in that when the battery is low, the drill will just beep and let you know that it should be charged?

Also, is there any sort of a battery gauge on the drill?

Watching one of the video reviews they said that the LED will flash twice when the battery is low. And the drill stops operating.

Jeff, as Brice stated, the CXS' LED flashes when the battery is beginning to run low as a warning. No beeps. The batteries and charger do have electronics to protect themselves from heat, cold, overcharging, etc. There is no battery gauge. A video by one of our dealers, posted in another thread here, showed them running 200 screws that were 1-1/4" into 2" poplar. Brice Burrell and Paul-Marcel both were provided with CXS drills for evaluation and both have commented on the longevity of the battery between charges.

Just in time the popcorn is all gone [big grin]

having just watched pauls video regarding the battery life of the cxs, its good but realisticly if you are using this drill at work all day as i do it will last a day maybe 2 for light use.

Should have been brushless, that's a big let down to me,all highend tools are going that way,and every bit of efficiency counts with a small battery. I have 3 makita 10.8v 1.3ah drill/driver's and am not that impressed with battery life, lets face it , you can draw 1.3amps at 10.8 volts for one hour, hence 1.3ah(amp hour). It lasts for days if i dont use it, but start driving  some larger screws or drilling 3/8 holes and your looking for a battery pretty quick. The small size is nice for some things though.Im sure the Festool will be a gem of a tool, but back to brushes ?? Cost issue ??

Terry,

I believe Shane responded to the question of why the CXS isn't brushless, a while back.  If I recall correctly, it had to do with the size of the CXS.
