CXS vs C12/T15 right angle chuck dimensions

I have need to drill in some very tight space and need a minimal depth right angle chuck.

Is the CXS right angle chuck smaller than the right angle chuck for the C12/T15 drills?  The distance I'm looking for is from the hex driver part (where you would insert the centroc or other bit holding chuck) straight back.

Also, I am assuming, but would like confirmation that the CXS right angle check uses 1/4 inch hex drive to couple to the centrotec, eccentric or regular chuck?  I ask because I use hex drive screws - stubby and regular - straight from the right angle chuck for the C12/T15 drills I have.

I don't have the two to compare in front of me, but I'm pretty sure the CXS right angle chuck is smaller.

Refer to the image below for the following dimensions:

Red - 2"
Blue - 4¼"
Green - 2¼"

Edit: The CXS does use the hex to attach to chucks. Like Seth said, it does not accept the eccentric chuck and doesn't need to since the head of the drill is much smaller than the C/T drills. The chucks for the CXS are specific to the CXS and it cannot use the chucks from your C/T drills.

Here are the measurements for the C12 chuck using Shane's color referances.

Red =  2 1/4"

Green = 2 9/16"

Blue = 3 5/8"

Also the eccentric doesn't fit the CXS.

Can anyone confirm the CXS right angle chuck is smaller than this 2 9/16 mentioned?

I keep this one in my CXS kit, it's smaller than either the C12 or CXS right angle attachments.
Can be a bit of a pain to use because it pretty much needs two hands to control but it's functional.

I actually measured it at 2 5/8".

I actually use a right angle chuck probably 4-6 times a month. But since I purchased the CXS  about 3 years ago, the old Milwaukee chuck has not seen the light of day.

Thanks for measuring. It isn't enough of a difference for me to buy the drill, and I'm the opposite you you cheese, I've needed it about two or three times in three years and just dealt with it.

The milescraft looks good, but reviews weren't great. They seemed better on the Rockwell one. Either way, I don't "need" it.

I picked up the Milescraft for what I though was going to be a 'one of' knowing that the C12 wouldn't come close (didn't have the CXS at the time)...... it did the job and I've used it several times since but only as a 'last resort' where other options made things tough.

Don't know about reviews, mine's been 'trouble free' although admittedly I don't use it much.

Good to know.
I should probably get it as a last resort. My immediate need was solved by just some better thinking.

Better thinking...I like it, but it certainly seems to be a highly under used commodity in the last few years.  [smile] [smile]
