Hi,
I do lots of laminate installs (Burger King, Chuck-e-cheese, Carabas, ect ect), and Im looking for a laminate trimmer that requires less clean-up. A lot of the installs require me to work n store between business hours so I need something as clean as possible. I already own the 1010 I believe it is, and was impressed with the dust collection but Im looking for something I can leave set up for that soul purpose. So my question is how is the dust collection on the new router(small one, not the giant) with laminate (i.e. Formica). Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Marco, its pretty good, its what you'd expect from Festool. I say try it out and if you're not happy return it with in 30 days, no questions asked. I'll shoot you a better responce to your thread in the morning. If you have any more specific questions I'll be happy to answer them.

Thanks Brice,
My only real question is what size bits am I limited to? My size, Im not referring to diameter but length. My Bosch for instance can't accept the longer bits without it leaving to much cutter below the base plate. This makes it way to easy to either burn or mar the face of the edge Im routing against. Not something Im willing to hand over to a helper to do if you know what I mean.

Hi Marco,
I checked out laminate trimmers at the IWF.  The best two that I found were the Lamello Lamina E2 and the Festool MFK700.  Both did an excellent job with dust collection.  BTW, the Lamello was hooked to a CT extractor.  The Festool is more versatile while the Lamello is a dedicated laminate trimmer.  IMHO, the Lamello made a better quality  cut than the Festool and I believe this is due to the direction of the cutting action.  The downside to this model of the Lamello is that it is only good for straight edges.  I am leaning toward the Festool because it is more versatile.  If all I wanted was to do straight edge laminate cuts or trimming of thin edgebanding, I think I would go with the Lamello even though it is more expensive than the Festool MFK.

Marco, the other members have given some good info here about trim routers here's one more thought. How about another 1010 with edge trimming accessories, that way you have another fully capable router should the need arise. Just a thought.

Brice, I had thought you did a review of the 1010 edge trimmer a while back.
Or was that Per?

No matter, i do recall somebody showing it.  I have been thinking of getting the edge trimmer kit for my OF 1000.
With my limited space, i like versatility in as many tools as possible.
