Delta Bandsaw Bearings

I have a Delta 28-682 bandsaw and one of the upper guide bearings is bad. All the Delta parts web sites show the bearings as either not available or indefinitely back ordered. There don't seem to be any after market guides for this saw.

I would expect someone makes a ball bearing that will fit the saw, I just don't have any way to find it.

Anyone solved this problem?

Have you checked with Carterproducts.com?  They have great customer service and a great product.

Its very unlikely that Delta would use some sort of special bearings.  Look on the middle ring of the bearing for an indentifer and google that.  Should be something widely available for a few dollars.  If you live near a city with much industrial activity, there is probably a dealer nearby, Motion Industries is one of the largest.  Amazon is likely to have them, too if you can wait a couple of days.

By the way, one of the big villains in bandsaw bearing failure is well meaning users who blow the dust out with compressed air.  Some of that dust is going to get into your bearings, unless you have well sealed bearings - very unlikely with Delta.

Go to a local bearing dealer in your area.  Bring the bearing with you and they will likely be able to match it up.  I was able to replace bearings on my 1938 10" Delta bandsaw this way.  OWWM.org is also another excellent source of info.

Carter doesn't have a replacement for this Delta bandsaw.

I'll see if I can find an identifier on the bearings and try to find a local supplier.

Thanks for the help.

I did find info on the inner bearing. It says NBK 6200Z.

A vendor on Amazon claims to have a replacement. Their bearing is Amico 6200Z 10mm x 30mm x 9mm Double Shielded Ball Bearing.

It looks the same and has the same dimensions as the Delta bearings so I'll order some.

Hey Birdhunter!

Got a link or the Co. info on that?  Need to do same on mine soon.

Thanks, Sam

Go to Amazon.com. Enter 6200Z bearing. The first response shows the Amico offering. The prefix is not NBK as what's on my Delta bearing, but the 6200Z and the dimensions are the same.

Great!

Thanks for that and best of luck keeping her in good running order.
