This is a desk I built for my sister-in-law a few years back. It is made from solid Bubinga and weighed in at a hefty 560 pounds when completed!

It's hard to go wrong with Kem Aqua Plus clear...it's uv stabile, available in water bourne, exceeds KCMA standards and easy to apply.  The only issue is it's special order from Sherwin Williams and hard to get in less than 5 gal...Enduro var is a similar but ambering

Thank you for all of the kind responses! It is actually finished with General Finishes "Arm-R-Seal" satin oil & urethane blend! It is a wonderful polyurethane finish that stands up well to use and abuse!

Your right about the Arm-R-Seal being a great product and I have used it for table tops, desk tops, etc.  Actually it is not a polyurethane but a urethane varnish the distinction being the amount of non-cooked oils.  The varnish will dry harder but won't soak into the wood like the oil (or polyurethane) finish will.  I use both products and each has it's strengths and for a finish that will need to be repaired a lot, Minwax Wipe-On Poly is excellent.
