I know these have been out for a while. I was wondering if anyone has had any issues? What your overall impression is. I would get the festool impact, but I want something more compact, and more power.

I have the Makita brushless impact w/3 speed ranges and love it.

Dewalt here  [cool]
small , powerful , fits in the hand well , batteries last LONG Time
drives 6" lag bolts with no problem on one of my projects

I am ditching all my Dewalt stuff for Milwaukee. I like both the product and the company better. I've been pissed at Dewalt ever since they played their "20 volt" game.

I have had one warranty claim issue with Milwaukee for some batteries that wouldn't hold a charge. Even though they were technically out of warranty they replaced FIVE of them for me - for FREE.

With customer service like that, they have my business!!!

I looked at the DeWalt brushless and liked it. ...and then tried the new Hilti SID 18-A impact driver.  Bought one same day.  It srcews lag bolts into concrete like its butter and on lower settings works great for cabinet and drywall screws. Not loud, great control. I bought the set (tool, charger, 2-1.5a batteries, case) at the Hilti store for $339. Home Depot has it for $349.

I have the Bosch kit, 2 drills, 2 impacts, sawzall, circ saw, radio ect. I had 2 1.5ah batt and 4 2.6ah batts and recently bought 2 4.0ah from amazon, they are great! I really dontcare about weight yet, give me power and run time,  now I really want to buy the new bosch brushless impact but I have no real reason too. And I am too far in to completely start/change over.
Point is, is we all know the brushless is better and I would recommend 3.0ah or better, the rest is just old technology considering Metabo is releasing a 5.2ah!

I've had my 20v brushless impact driver since they first came out. Love it!  I like the smaller batteries because they make the drill lighter. I got a bit stuck in it last wk and had to take the whole nose apart. The little keeper ring is a trick to get off but as soon as I got it off, it released the bit. The bit was not milled right on the end.

Go with the PDC.
You'll just buy a systainer and foam lining for any other brands if you don't !! Lol

I have multiple 12V (7 pc) and 18V (5pc) Milwaukee tools and love them.  I won't buy DeWalt because they do not post their amp hours which is the best indication of battery longevity.  If you look at sites that sell refurbished  equip...the vast majority of it is D-W.  In reference to the post above where batteries were not taking or holding charge... I experienced this but cured it by applying a touch of conductive grease on the interface terminals and all worked perfectly.
