disappointing ts 55 excessive end play and blade wobble

i have one of the earliest ts 55 saws.  while it was still under warranty, the bearing had to be replaced due to excessive end play of the blade shaft.  later, the bearings were again replaced by the local dealer at my cost.  in august of 2010, the bearings were replaced by the factory.  after 7 months, end play is now 10 to 12 thousands plus.  i noticed it as after ripping 2 inch mango, there were noticeable blade gouges, using a clamped guiderail.  the saw sees only light to moderate use as i am a hobbyist.

i emailed festool on 3/31/2011 and have not even gotten an acknowledgment.  because the problem started when the saw was still under warranty, i thought that a pro-rated replacement was fair.  it'll be interesting to see where this goes.

You might want to send a follow up email.  Email is not perfect.

happy to report that i got an email from shane and david called shortly after that.  i guess my original email did get lost in cyberspace.  initially, i did attempt to call but due to the time difference, only got a recording.

at this point, there is no doubt in my mind that this will be resolved to my complete satisfaction.

got a call from woodcraft in honolulu to ship my saw to them for a replacement and that they would ship me another saw.  since my wife will be flying over to pick up the grand-kids for a week end visit with us, i asked if she could bring it in for the exchange.  they said that that would be perfect as they could give her the new saw at the same time.

much thanks to david  and shane.  you are great representatives of a great company.  thank you again.

festool forever.

That's great to hear, L'!

I seem to remember a conversation about end play and now you got it resolved.

Tom

yes tom, finally got it resolved.  the end play on the new saw is only 2 thousands of an inch.  i need to get in touch with you soon to place an order.
