Discontinued Festools that you wish Festool would bring back?

For those looking for a RAS here in North America, I, along with Seth had the opportunity to be in Lebanon earlier this week and we noticed pallets of RAS 115 still in the wrapping fresh off the boat.  I haven't heard about a discontinuance but if that is a concern then the tools are there to be gobbled (sorry, Thanksgiving week) up.

I will be in the neighborhood (roughly) in a couple days visiting family.
Festool HQ is not really that close. I'll be in Munster but might swing down
that way on Friday on our way home to NJ.

If you can make it and if they can accommodate you (this is a week leading up to a holiday) you will have a blast.

[member=60461]Bob D.[/member] - While we'd normally love to have you stop by, the Festool USA office will be closed this Friday for the Thanksgiving weekend. If your dates change or are in the area again at another time, let me know.

Good to know Peter...as I’ve been a demon dialer today making sure one of these gems are in my future.

I have a couple of Milwaukee grinders, one corded, one cordless that are sweet but they don’t have dust/debris management capabilities.

I used my DX93 extensively during the restoration of a 150 year old house. Over a three year period of all my Festools used this one certainly earned its keep particularly when restoring window frames, doors and architrave.  A dealer demo of the RO90 with delta pad did not cut it when compared to the smooth operation of the DX.

I could'nt agree more.  The DX93 is (relatively) powerful, efficient & smooth.  Just like other deltas, that stepped head makes it extremely useful in those diabolical concavities that most other sanders miss.  Allowing a reasonable overhang, together with an aggressive true orbital action makes it far superior to the slow, inefficient micro-rotary oscillating multitool action that currently seems to be in vogue.

It's also just about everything that the RO90 isn't: in delta mode anyway.  Where the DX is light, compact, ergonomically sound, easily handled, smooth running and can access overhangs, the baby Rotex is poorly balanced, rough handling, incapable of accessing all but the most minuscule of overhangs, & so rough that delicate surfaces & mouldings are in constant danger of irreparable damage.  For fine work, sash frames, stair mouldings, architraves & complex skirtings the DX93 is ideal, & the RO90 nigh on useless.

To reiterate what [member=1674]Peter Halle[/member] just said, the RAS 115 is currently available in North America.

Thank you Tyler. It's not likely our dates will change but I will keep it in mind. Maybe next time we could drive out a day earlier and stop by on Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

The bench attachment for the HL850 planer! Part No. 485017

Both the bench unit and the planer has been on my "Some day i'm going to buy it list" for a few years.

But the day the bench attacment went out of market I deleted the planer on my list!  [mad]

Kind regards
Henrik

I suggest to rethink that: that planer is a great tool in itself (when equipped with the additional fence).

Wow am I glad I have 2 ras 115's as they save the day many times in a year.  Although I have not touched any of the new hose ends I sure hope my supply of old style last me the rest of my career.

I've got the RAS 115 but missed news of the DX-93 being discontinued here.
I have a bunch of installed stair treads to sand and was planning to finally buy that gear driven delta.

I just used mine today on some trim work. It’s probably 3-4 times faster than a Fein, pretty impressive. It’s also not as clumsy to use as a RO 90 with the triangular head. The only thing I dislike is the oval dust port. Really, Festool should bring this item back and update it with a round dust port and a removable cord.

If you're looking for an alternative to the now-discontinued MFS, stay tuned.  [bite tongue] [popcorn]

DX93 still available in a few stores over here. One of the least expensive Festool sanders.

Is a 110 volt model available? If so, how much do they cost?

I paid ~250 used for mine in 110v. Currently in Virgina beach, Va on loan...
So I may be interested in selling it getting a 230v one...

Heads up...TCO Trade Counter Online/Ebay has MFS 700 listed for $382 + 45 shipping.
