I was looking for solution to store my non-festool tools  all these tools had different size cases.
Decided to make few systainers. Build total of 6 Systainers, all SYS 2 size
1st took about 16 hours to build, that include making jigs for various parts after that it was less than 2 hours per systainer.
It was learning process, I could not find 2D drawing anywhere, so I took dimensions off my T lock Systainer and developed my drawings and jigs.
Even though it was a long process, I enjoyed this , it was a fun project.
When started putting tools in Systainer , I used Closed cell form on bottom, cut the tool profile in that, it worked well

Here are couple of pictures.

From the systainer wiki page external link section, there is zip file containing 2D plan for a systainer, from a Heinrich-Hübsch college project.

Festool has facebook post about it.

This is very cool!  I think I've seen a few of these homemade systainers.  Someday I may have to tackle this, perhaps focusing on some different wood grain patterns to had a bit of a technical complexity factor in building.

Thank you for sharing!

Make it a great day - Sys Tim

But they don't interconnect, so why even bother imitating?

What is the weight?

The flexing lid seems to be solved  [tongue]

Hrm. I dunno, lot of time could be building something else.

It's cool, but like above, you can't interconnect them? I'd imagine they would be heavier too.
