SIAP- I am new to FOG(first post) and have been drooling over a Domino Joiner (500) for sometime. Thanks in part to the ultimate Domino guide I finally made the plunge. In addition to helping with the decision, the guide lead me to the supplemental Manual by Rick Christopherson, which indirectly lead me to the Multi - Position Guide Stop. Like the Manual by Mr. Christopherson, the MPG (a tenon joiner guide stop) is supplemental to the Domino 500 Joiner and the Domino accessories. My guess is that most or all of this is old information to readers of this form. What may be new is the exceptional service Mr. Christopherson provided.

I was fortunate to be in Mr. Christopherson's area (RTS Engineering) this week, so I was able to contact him arrange a visit to purchase a Multi Position Guide Stop/ Self Centering Guide stop Combo. Boy was that a treat. Not only was it wonderful to see what a well appointed Festool shop looks like, it was such a pleasure to have a moment to meet with a very knowledgeable and talented woodworker.

I am too new to the Domino, and woodworking for that matter, to give great insight on this supplemental accessory. What I can say with great confidence is that Rick provided great customer service, opened my eyes to the potential of the Domino and ALL accessories, as well as technique pointers.

Though most of this appears to be a private thank you to Rick. Admittedly, In a way, it is. I thought that if anyone was considering the tenon joiner guide stops , they would be happy to know that they would get service that mirrors Festool's outstanding service.

I hope that I can share my experiences with the Domino, the stops, and Festool Training (This month in Henderson, NV) in future posts.

Excited to woodwork,

Welcome newbie.  I may just pop in to see Rick then,,,, then again I might not !

Woodguy.

Thanks for the posting. I really had a great time. I was rather shocked when I walked back upstairs and discovered that it was already after 6:30pm and we had been playing down in the shop for 4 hours.  [eek] Time kind of flew by. I thought we had been down there for a little over an hour, maybe 2 hours max.

I'm also surprised that the Ninja Kitty didn't pay you a visit to express his concern that you might be hunting mice in his territory.  [scared] He usually does.

I have them both and I highly recommend them.  [thumbs up]

As I recall, I didn't actually get the first of each one but I was the first to order each on Ick's site.  [unsure]

Ron,
I'm suddenly having a hard time remembering how that worked out. You ordered your MGS guide 3 hours before the website went live, and I do remember that we were on the phone at the time so I could test out the website. You were my "shopping cart guinea pig".  [big grin] What I haven't been able to remember is how you knew about the guides before I made the FOG announcement 3 hours later, or how we exchanged a phone number? It's not in any of my emails, unless it was in a private message over at the talkfestool forum.

The existence of the MGS guides was actually very secretive before I made the official announcement during a Festool training class in Indiana. Even then, none of the students mentioned them here on the FOG until after my public FOG announcement. That posting was made at 1:00am, and before I went to bed, I had the first live sale at 3:00 am (another night owl). By the time I woke up the next morning, I was shocked by the number of sales, and it took me 2 days to catch up with assembling them all.

When the SCG-10 guides were announced last fall, the initial orders were coming in so fast that by the time you could complete your order, it was already the 5th guide. However, in honor of you being the original guinea pig, I made sure that your box was the first one processed at the post office.  8)

I was surprised at the time as well. Goes too fast when the subject is interesting. Regarding the Ninja Kitty, I think he sent his stunt double. The Calico(?) kitty was very interested in Festool.

Any new how to videos in the works? Newbies like myself are hungry for knowledge.

Thanks again!
