Hi all,
I'm semi new to the forum but having been using festoons for years.
Today I had my first real mishap. It seems as if the cutter on my domino is not making consistent cuts. Meaning; the holes are of varying sizes, a few of the holes were actually slanted in the piece, and when I'm using my extension wings to do fast alignments it seems to be moving although the alignment pins on the wings are not moving at all. Also, the cuts will not stay centered in the workpiece. I had various cuts that were either higher or lower.
I'm very aware of the proper methods for using this tool so was curious to see if any other users have experienced any of these issues.
So basically I'm unable to use it because I can't rely on its accuracy. I seem to remember there being a new support phone # or something....if anyone has this info it would be appreciated. I hate to waste the time to send the tool in but at this point I see no real option.
Thanks,

Do you still occasionally get consistent mortises, or is every cut FUBAR?  If the former, then it still might be a technique issue; if the latter, then I would call service.

Check the cutter, if it is broken or dull you'll struggle with getting consistent cuts.

The wings take some practice to get the set up right.

What material are you morticing?

Thanks guys...it was the cutter itself. It had been chipped somehow (???) and I couldn't really tell due to irregular bit shape..but definitely chipped/gouged. Got a new one and it works fine. Thanks for all the replies!

I had a bad streak with 5mm cutters a few years ago. All other cutters held up fine but the 5mm ones kept chipping. I got them replaced free of charge but I didn't trust them. The last one I got has held up fine though.

Haven't had any trouble with the other sizes at all yet. :)
