Domino Bottom Plate Dented from the Instrument Side / Service Advice?

I got my Domino out last night and was cutting some slots when I noticed that the bottom plate was dented.  It wasn't dented in like I had banged it against something hard, it was dented out from the instrument side, as though the cutting mechanism had banged hard against it.  The dent is about 1/2 to 3/4 inches in a straight line, and probably protrudes 1/32" - 1/16".  The plate does not sit flat anymore.  Aside from that, everything still seems to work.  I have some pictures if anyone is interested.  Has anyone else ever seen anything like this?

The Domino is under warranty, so I'll have to take or send it in.  I have a few questions for those of you who have been through the process:
*  Does Festool have regional service centers, or only the online service center?
*  If I take it in to the dealer where I bought it, will they send it in for me?
*  If there are regional service centers, is there one in the Denver area?
*  Any other advice for a Festool Service newbie?

Could it have happened when you were changing a cutter?

Andrew

Maybe, but I don't remember dropping the fence when it was off, or having to force anything related to the fence.  The plate would have been well protected from impacts from that direction anyway.

Maybe a small piece of wood got between cutter arm and baseplate when in use? Just a thought. Not improbable. The baseplate is quite thin.

Pictures are always helpful to assess the damage.

But you have service all inclusive, so I suggest you send it in to get it fixed.

I finally have a picture.

The only service center is in Indiana

I believe so, I sent mine direct to Indiana myself, and used the online repair form, you might double check with the dealer on this

Nope, sorry!

You (or the dealer) should only send in what needs to be worked on. For example, no need to send the Plug It cord, or the Systainer if you can safely wrap the tool up for transport. Then again, under warranty Festool pays the freight both ways, so maybe just send it all. Make a list of what you send in, cutter, cord, Systainer and take a picture of same... just in case.

Hope they get this sorted out quickly for you!

Woh.  That's messed up.  Service should definitely take care of that.

I've always gone through my local dealer for service issues rather than through Festool, including once for the Kapex, which would have been a bear to prepare on my own.  Maybe my dealer is just really good, but it's never taken more than 5 minutes from walking in the door to getting my service ticket -- so my assumption has always been that the dealer option is more efficient for service issues.

Finally got around to sending it in around Dec 10-15 sometime, after cutting the Christmas project mortises.  Got it back today, all fixed and ready to go.  I'm a happy camper :).
