Domino Connectors

I believe there was some cautious talk about Festool developing a range for the 500 dependent on the success and popularity of the 700 connectors.

As a side note, has the possibility of creating tenons that fit the wider settings for the 500 and 700 ever been discussed? A wider 14mm for the 700 wide setting would be sweet.

As it is now,  it's an ideal reason to get the 700 to compliment my 500... But an offering for the 500 would be great for smaller furniture. Showed the connectors to my uncle who is a furnishing architect, and he instantly found several handfuls of uses for the connector,  if it was offered in a smaller dimension. So,  I hope that they will expand the range soon...

I received the SV - D14/32 set of connectors in 3 boxes but without fitting instructions, cannot find a download for this anywhere, any ideas?

Best bet is to try to get to a festool demo which makes it all very easy.  Peter has done a couple of his in-depth videos here but I haven't seen a downloadable manual anywhere yet.

Shhhhhhhhhhh don't tell anyone, my stellar reputation is on the line here

Thanks very helpful ... the Connectors worked great for a folding table I want to transport ... I adapted the 12mm cutter to make the recesses for Soss hinges ... quicker and easier than using a router jig ...

Exactly what did you do to be able to make the recesses for the Soss hinges?  Pics would be handy.  Thanks

Soss hinges require two plunge depths, 20mm for the main body and 6mm for the shoulders. As recommended elsewhere on this forum I used plastic tubing to limit the Domino 700 plunge depth to 15mm and then further reduced this down to 6mm with Traxxas spacers. I used a 12mm cutter to rout the 13mm width of the Soss hinge and placed a 1mm engineered plastic sheet under the plate as a shim for the extra width, I find this method more precise than making trial and error fine adjustments using the height gauge.

Although 13mm X 60mm Soss hinges are intended for material thicknesses between 16 and 18mm if you justify them to one side of 30mm stock they still function.
