Domino Disaster

Used my Domino tonight and disaster. It won't turn off! Well not from the normal switch anyway.

Any ideas?

It's not that old (still under warranty) so I'm not too concerned but seems a bit odd. It's only had light use. Maybe done 50 dominos since I've bought it!

Sorry to hear that -- at least it's still under warranty.

Won't turn off, as in, even when you click the power button back the motor still runs?  Or is there an obstruction such that you can't depress the power button?

Look on the bright side -- you'll get really comfortable, really quickly with repositioning and plunging without turning the motor off. [big grin]

I remember how impressed I was when first looking at videos of the Domino in action, and seeing people quickly move from plunge to plunge while keeping the engine running -- whereas when I started using it I turned the machine off after every plunge, then carefully positioned it on the next mortise, checking and double checking to make sure the fence was flat against the edge, and only the starting the motor.  But after continued use I can just reposition and plunge down the whole line of mortises.

I had a problem with my DF500. The green plastic switch would separate from the actual switch below. I managed to work out how to push it back in place and also how to use the switch without forcing the green plastic out again. After about 2 years I decided to get Festool to fix it and it has been brilliant ever since.

I need it sorted for my Systainer / cutting / work bench that I'm about to build. However I'm also waiting for a certain UJK Parf guide system to make the top so I guess I've got some time to get the domino sorted! Can I just take it back to Axminster or do I need to contact Festool?

I've never had a problem with my Domino but as a side note, switch usually give out from the on/off wear.  It is actually easier on the machine to let it run.

This particular problem is not with the electrical side of the switch but with the fit of the green plastic rocker that clips into the plastic actuator of the switch. Leaving the machine running or using it less does not alter or save it from failing.

I am not certain, but from looking at my own before it was fixed, I think that sometimes the green plastic part has a slightly oversized clip receptor and it then pops away from the actual switch. Once free from there it fall off completely.

The fix takes just a few seconds and the problem goes away for ever.

Ya, I have the same problem with my DF 500. It's been that way since new, sometimes the top green part of the switch hinges up and sometimes it doesn't.
I'm just careful when I turn it on to slide the switch forward and not put any additional top pressure on the green thumb stop. It's been like that for about 5 years now. If I'm careful it works fine, when I'm in a hurry not so much.
