Domino Fit Too Tight

When I first bought my Domino 700 I experimented with different gluing methods to figure out what would work best for me.  Like others, I found that because of the tight fit of Dominos if I put glue in the mortise the Domino would push the excess down the side of the walls and create a pool at the bottom that would keep the Domino from going all the way into the hole.

Now I only apply glue to the Domino itself and I cut my mortises 5mm deeper to assure that the wood being joined will fit tightly together.

I live in a very dry climate and don't have issues with Dominos swelling.

However, it is so dry here that I'm having issues with antique furniture my wife and I brought with us from the east coast 6 years ago drying and cracking.  I'm also finding that some of the furniture I built while living on the east coast is developing warps in some boards.  :(

Time for a whole house humidifier.

I store my Dominos in zip loc bags and I vac the air out before closing and still have to occasionally drag one over a piece of sandpaper.
I consider this better than too loose.  One of the advantages of the Dominos over biscuits is that the pieces are aligned properly as long as you take care routing the slots.
