When I first bought my Domino 700 I experimented with different gluing methods to figure out what would work best for me. Like others, I found that because of the tight fit of Dominos if I put glue in the mortise the Domino would push the excess down the side of the walls and create a pool at the bottom that would keep the Domino from going all the way into the hole.
Now I only apply glue to the Domino itself and I cut my mortises 5mm deeper to assure that the wood being joined will fit tightly together.
I live in a very dry climate and don't have issues with Dominos swelling.
However, it is so dry here that I'm having issues with antique furniture my wife and I brought with us from the east coast 6 years ago drying and cracking. I'm also finding that some of the furniture I built while living on the east coast is developing warps in some boards.
