Domino in Action: Expanding Round Table

Your construction looks similar to this company,http://www.dbfletcher.com/capstan/

It looks like your table will expand and contract by rotating?  Great design work.  I assumed one would need to cut the parts on a CNC router to get the fit right.  Looks like you have that figured out.

Check out this video.

Looks great Rick, excellent job.

I sort of gathered from the earlier posts that we were going to see the Domino "pushed to its limits" by the end of Feb. I guess that info is on your blog or will be in the upcoming "advanced uses of the Domino system" that you are putting together with one of the Ubeaut forum Aussies. (I can guess, but why bother.)

But it is a great table, and FFlowboy is the name.

Thanks

Table looks great Rick ;D  Is their going to be a short video like the Fletchers Swartz table on you tube  ???

Talking of you tube, have a look at this "Walking table" Ive heard of taking you dog for a walk but never your table

LOL.  Potential for a whole new type of conversation:  "See you later dear, I have to go outside and walk the table now."  "Where is that table, anyway.  I know I left it right here.  Why are things always walking away, or am I just getting older?"  etc.

Rick, What an unusual and well-executed project.  Sometimes when I see what others are doing here I think "I could do that".  Not so sure I can say that about your table.  Beautiful finish on the top --could you describe the finish process.

Bizarre isnt it. I was blown away when i found out about trees that walk in South Africa (no one believes me :'( ) now a table that walks ???

I take my hat of to Rick. That is a sensational project he has undertaken. We all make furniture and at the end of the day give or take a few mill, but that table he has crafted is woodwork precision. Well done ;)

Spectacular Rick, I get a brain-ache just thinking about that job.

Groggy have you looked at the Fletcher Vid? Now THAT deserves a brain ache its so stunning.

Rick, is yours a similar movement as the Fletcher? If so love to see a vid ;D

Thats terrific. Great job and glad to see you finished it. It is very inspiring.

Rick,
That is an amazing project!  I can just imagine the comments you must hear from people when they see it in action.

The expanding round table seems like one of those projects that would get full appreciation from woodworkers and non-woodworkers equally!

Thanks,
Matthew
