Domino mortices not horizontal.Anyone seen this before?I still love the thing!

I remember this from a while back Brice. My photos are too large to post here. They are all in the 500-600KB size. I have no problems posting pictures at any other forum I am a member of. Why is this?

Taos, I'll be happy to resize the photos for you and post them here if you like.

I can also reccomend IRFanview.  It's a free application that is a viewer and will easily resize to smaller pics.  Google it and download.  It's a great little app that was reccomended over on knots (fine woodworking).

Wow...I cannot believe how huge of a disparity there is from one side of the mortice to the other.  The two panels joined together flat tell the story.  I am anxious to get home and try mine out to see if mine exhibits any probhlems.  I built a corner shelf recently with some hardwood edgebanding that I used the Domino for...It did not go together as smooth as I would have liked...but I attributed this to operator error.  I will try to post my results once I test mine.

I noticed the same thing today.  When I joined the two pieces it was flush on the bottom and proud on the top. 
I did not really look into it further but I will now tomorrow.

The Domino has allot of whirly gigs inside and when at Festool School we were told you need to be careful when replacing the bit. When loosening the bit hold the wrench parallel to the fence and push away from the body. This prevents you from possibly damaging thie whirly gigs. You don't want to hold the wrench peperndicular to the fence and push

We were told this for a reason and I wonder if some of the issues people are having are due to this

That's a good point...and could very well be part or maybe even most of the problem.  I did not know about this potential problem until this thread...and I just found out from you about the potential to damage the Domino by improperly changing bits.  I have only used my Domino on a very small scale now and believe I have only changed bits once...and I know I was careful.  I will try to recreate some of the mortices posted here to see what kind of results I come up with.

While I understand your intent, this machine came directly from Goleta. The bit has not been changed or touched by me. The unit has an issue. Please don't discount what some of the more intelligent posters are bringing to light.
