I have had and used my Domino for many years and love it. I've never had any problems other than a slipping fence that was fixed by tightening the lever. I'm currently making cabinets for our new house. I've completed a set of walnut for the master bath (15 cabinets) and white oak for the guest/laundry (12 cabinets). I'm using hard maple for the kitchen with 16 completed. My last cabinet build was also hard maple without any bit breakage. The background is to say that I know how to use the Domino - slow plunge, etc.
My problem is that I've broken two bits in a row, first plunge for each one. These are 5mm bits that I like to use with plywood cabinets so as not to have to adjust the depth between face frame and sides. On both of these occasions the tool grabs/jumps and the bit is gone. The second was a very slow plunge. I've finished the cabinet with the 6mm bit without any issue.
Both instances where with the width setting at medium. The resulting cut is 15/16th (24mm) wide- is this cutting to the correct width?
Is there a batch of bad bits? Could the Domino itself have an issue?
