Domino paint spraying stands

A few years ago I posted about a large casework job we were doing. One of the things that made it a success were the stands we made for spraying the shelves. Using the stands allowed us to spray all 6 sides and stand them on edge to dry. Picture of some of the shelves drying. There would have been 2 more stands in the top mortices while shooting the shelves.View attachment 1

I'm reposting about them because I have a job that requires me to shoot all 6 sides of end panels at one time. With some new members hopefully this helps them out when they run across the same situation.

That's a great idea! I understand using the domino setup for shelves or other items where the sides don't need to be finished. Two of the images look like you're painting doors and using some type of jig for holding the doors? Could you elaborate on this system works as it looks quite clever.

Personally, I've been searching for a new system for spraying cabinet doors and this looks like it may be an excellent solution.

None of these are doors. All of the edges that have mortices get concealed/covered.

I'm also in search of a better cab door method. Home doors I got that solved.

We always preferred to hang things. Drill two little holes and insert hooks, and then spray it hanging.

I've used this method on cabinet doors utilizing the hinge cup holes. Problem I run into is drying space.

That's a nice design allowing the panels to be self supporting in different orientations...
but you're not getting full paint coverage of two of the six sides like you can when hanging panels.

Tom,

Nice innovation but I'm more interested in the filters set up behind the panels.

What's the story on how they work?

Thanks!

The only thing that does not get covered is the Domino mortice. The legs are 16 mm clear of the edge of the panel. I can easily direct the spray into that area.

16x20x1 furnaces filters, the boxes are 1.5" foam, ducting is 6" alumiflex, drawn out by an 1800 CFM blower (needs to be explosion proof).

Only picture I have of the duct work.

I do hang some items when it is the best method.
