Good Afternoon

I received this from our FESTOOL TSM last week and thought it might be of interest.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"In response to many related questions, It’s official.....The Domino XL700 can very easily fit  Mortice locks with a case depth of 60mm by using the 14mm cutter!!

To avoid ‘cutter climb’ mark 14mm divisions on the reference surface, this will line up the centre of the cutter.  The one in the image was fitted in 8 minutes which is quicker than any router jig and 30 minutes quicker than fitting with hand tools. This means that other door furniture such as barrel bolts and dead locks can be fitted. To allow for any wider sections in the lock case size, adjust to suit on the sliding scale."

Best regards

Good idea, but has mentioned already, how about doing thicker body locks from both sides.

Good for cutting slots for trickle vents in windows and ?????????

Also the Trend Lock jig templates will rout out the face plate recess for a number of different sizes which you will still need to do [wink]

Great idea to use it for locks

Your just saying that cus your getting one! lol  Trying to justify your purchase  [tongue] Welcome back to fog dude!

Warren but it aint as quick as a souber Mortiser and its a HELL of a lot cheaper and can be cordless!

Can do the mortise hole in 24seconds and then changing the cutter and moving the jig do do the face plate (unless you just chisel out the face plate) takes less than 1 minute and takes less than 20 seconds to cut the face plate.  Then chisel the round corners square 15-20 seconds?

So the entire process can be done in 2minutes proper rushing like but its achievable!

I like the idea of using the DF 700 like this...

It is a very versatile bit of kit, beautifully made and quick to set up. Dust extraction is superb and so no mess when you are doing a rush job for Mrs Smith in her hallway. I confess that I am now a complete Festool fan but I am especially impressed by the DF 700 - it is the best Festool machine that I have used.

Keep up the good work Warren.
