As I mentioned - not having a great day but then to add to the total crap I'm now having to deal with I reread the comments above and caught something in Chris's post that was simply out of line and quite frankly offensively ignorant.
"reading the post really sends me over the edge because some people...they know....that if this $850 machine is being sold for $400 AND it's brand new it's clearly stolen. This kind of buyer is unscrupulous. The seller is a dirt bag but the buyer is contributing to the problem too."
While the statement above sounds and is reasonable on its face - It's unfair and I'll informed to cast it about without investigating the facts involved, something I would have thought a LE person would know better than to do. In US funds, I paid $700 for a $885 item, a discount that is well within reason for an online retailer that does not have the overhead of a Brick and Mortar shop. It fell within reason for me that this seller was able to spot buy Festool products and was prepared to sell them for what he considered a reasonable margin. My understanding of your and our antitrust / price fixing laws prevents Festool from stopping any Festool dealer, online or B&M from selling Festool products for whatever price they want. The only thing Festool can restrict them from doing is to advertise their products for prices other than the MSL Price. There may be suggestions as to what long term business relationship dealers will have with Festool if they choose to sell for less than the MLS but without debating the validity of those sentiments it seemed reasonable that someone spot buying volume wholesale may very well sell for 25% less Given there is often 10% off Products (currently the Domino line) this was not in the realm of buying knockoff Coach bags out of the trunk or a 1999 Dodge Neon.
I don't consider myself "unscrupulous" and as a Professional Engineer in good standing, neither does my community. I'd prefer it if you didn't post a statement that clearly implies that those that might have purchased these goods is unscrupulous and a willing contributor to illegal activities.
Sorry for the negative post - as I said - not a great day, I'm sure you probably didn't intend to cast such a broad net on all for being an unscrupulous buyer, but having said that please be more careful to understand the facts before making such statements in the future.
