Dominos for blanket box corners

I think using dominos should be strong enough but could you see any issues (movement etc) with joining a blanket box in the following way? The idea is to use 40x40mm square timber in the corners and alternate dominos so I wouldn't be cutting into the other dominos.

If you already have a domino this works.
One could domino both sides and glue them, then put the long side dominos in, which can go into/through the existing ones.

However if the sides are sheet goods then the Lamello Zeta-P2 may be more worthwhile if you do lots of sheet goods type of work.
In this case it would be so that the thing can break down and flat pack, but you may not need to worry about that.
So even dowels would work.

Already got the domino. I'm just trying to work out what works well and what the limitations might be.

If the dominos were glued and then cut into, how much strength might be lost?

Not sure of the physics, but I've done this several times with this sort of post and panel construction without issue.  I would use the narrow mortise setting though, at least for the post.

2/3 of SFA.
... If they are there for alignment while the glue dries.

I would be more concerned with the sides to base if it has a load in it, but it should be plenty strong. You can always offset them as you first suggested. Either way should be fine.
Or use the same dimension on the ends, and offset in the middle section??
