Hi
Have 8 doors to make and am looking for a hinge jig that will accept a 1 1/2" thick door. Anyone have a fav? Thanks in advance

I don't think you can do better than Oliver Bradshaw's method in the video below.  I used this method twice to fit new door panels on-site and it works great.

Here's the comparison video Oliver references at the end of the video.

I think I can.

Skip the jigsaw step. Instead, clamp the first part flat against the second part. Then use the router and the flush trim bit to route a pocket in the second part.

The pocket should have a depth of at least a half router bit diameter, and a width of at least the hinge thickness + the thickness of the first part + a half bit diameter - the cutting lenght of the bit (and at most the hinge thickness + the thickness of the first part).

Then extend the bit a bit more so it can route all through the second part, and cut a traverse slot somewhere in the pocket. It doesn't need to be precise. This is just to create an entry point for the router when using the jig.

Then glue the two parts together as before.

Now we have a jig, which supports both sides of the router base so we don't have to balance the router so carefully. And we didn't have to fiddle with the jigsaw.

I use the MFS, once set up I just move it from location to location. In these photos I was changing the door from an out-swing to an in-swing and also installing different hinges so there was a lot of hole plugging to do.

I use the Templaco jigs. Ordered the whole multi size set years ago. They've held up well. Basically a factory made version of what the guy makes in the video.
