Hello All,

I have a question on Dust collection. I am doing some work in a small shop. I have a used Jet 3 hp table saw I am picking up this weekend. Also ordering a track sw, router and lr drilling kit.

If I get the package deal with one of the larger Festool dust collectors would it work for the table saw on an occasional basis?

Not doing this for a living  just as a hobby but have a house of cabinets to build.

Thanks for the insight.

I've done this and it works reasonably for occasional work.  For heavy use it's not ideal and you can full the vac bag up pretty quickly with the smaller vacs.

If you intend to use the Festool vac as your main vac, then I would recommend looking into the Oneida for Festool at Woodcraft.

Honestly there's not a really good dust collection system ready to go for a table saw unless you spend over a $1000.  You can put something together for a maybe 1/3 that cost if you are willing to buy a Harbor Frieght 2HP dust collector on sale (as low as $150) and swap out the dust bag for a HEPA filter (search for Wynn Environmental, $150-200).  That would probably work as long as the DC was attached directly to the table saw.  Also, don't forget about dust collection above the table (integrated with a blade guard).

I attach my festool vac to my blade guard (shark guard).  I pre-separate with a clearvue cv-06 so nothing ends up in the festool bag.  This works well for catching the dust overhead.  For the base of the cabinet I use a larger dust collector with a 5in connection.  The festool vac wouldnt work well connected to the base.

As far as capacity goes I don't see why a table saw would fill the vac any faster than the track saw cutting the same amount of material.

I have a CT mini with a Dust Deputy mounted on top and it works beautifully.  I upgraded the hose from the antistatic 27mm hose to a Bosch 35mm hose from Amazon and use it for almost every tool I have.  I use it for my Ro90 and TS55 as well as my router table fence that is installed in the side table of my Ridgid 4512 tablesaw.  I have a 4" hose piece attached to the dust outlet at the bottom of the saw and runs out to the left side, so when I use it I"ll remove the 27mm style hose end and snug it into the end of the hose coming from the saw.  There is a couple of spots in the saw where dust sits on the sides of the chute, so I rap the spot where the saw ends and the base begins and alot of dust falls through.

I'm still using the same bag the mini came installed with two years ago and still have a backup bag.  I removed the bag twice to knock a little dust out of the bags port then reinstall.  Other than some light dust it's as good as new.
