This is my first mod to Festool products.  I purchased a dust collector and a SYS-MFT.  I did not want to remove the SYS-MFT on top after every use to replace the cord and hose in the garage.  I needed a "spacer" or something to elevate the MFT so I could access the hose and cord.  I modified a Classic SYS-3 as shown in the pic.  It works really well.  I left a lot of material in the bottom for structural integrity.  Let me know what you think.  I hope most comments are about me committing a crime due to cutting open a Systainer.  [attachimg=1][attachimg=2][attachimg=3]

I like functional mods, and creative solutions. It appears that you came up with both!

[thumbs up]

If you're happy and it works for you - hey, what's not to like?

It elevates the work surface and allows for easy cord/hose removal and insertion with minimal effort.  The classic systainers are cumbersome IMO and are relatively inexpensive.  One can be modified to save a lot of time over the long run with minimal expense.

I think I can do the same mod with a Sys-2.  It might be tight with a Sys-1.  I would love to know if it works if someone uses a shorter systainer.

Love it!  I've been toying with a similar idea.  What you did will work perfectly fine for me.  I'll post if I ever get it done [tongue]

Nice idea, I haven't  seen that arrangement / mod before.  [thumbs up]

Its always the simple ideas that make the most sense. That's quite inventive and I suspect will get copied a lot.

If I could suggest; if you placed some plastic or rubber trim or grommet around the hole it would look integral to the vac and protect the hose when moved in and out.
