dust deputy type like thing a ma jiggy bob

Looks like a simple dust drop bucket top. Pretty worthless...really nothing like a dust deputy. The key to the DD is the cyclonic action. Without that, a drop box would have to be HUGE to actually separate fine particles efficiently.

Hi Deansocial,

Don't buy it!
I've got one and it's more hassle than it's worth.
a) there's a filter in the top that becomes completely clogged in a couple of minutes if you use it for sanding or hoovering dust.
b) if you use it for collecting chippings from an electric hand planer; it will only fill the bottom 20% of the bucket before the suction drops off.
My recomendation is to save your money for a Dust Deputy or if you feel like a mini project check out Sturdee's homemade cyclone

Interesting DIY...but I doubt its very effective at seperating anything very fine (invisible to the naked eye, also the most dangerous particles). If you really want to get into DIY cyclones, take a look at Bill Pentz's website. He focuses on large cyclones (high CFM, low pressure drop), but his principles could easily be applied to small cyclones (high pressure drop, low CFM). Be warned, its a HUGE amount of info, but very good info, so don't expect a 10 minute read...
