Dust deputy with bucket

Is it safe to use dust deputy with bucket on Festool vac as long as you use anti static hoses?

I've done this for years on a CT Mini using a Festool AS hose and the equipment supplied in the DD Deluxe kit with no known ill effect. I did not bother to add anything to ensure a static path from the AS hose to the Mini. Not sure if the plastic DD and supplied hose are considered AS.

Keep in mind that with the DD on buckets riding on top of the Mini and the hose from the DD going into the port in the far corner of the "hose garage", whatever static charge may be in the hoses is pretty far from the control circuit board, if that is a real concern.

You can easily put a wire under one of the bolts, and wrap a heavy nut to the end, which will ground the Dust Deputy to the ground. I have one mounted on a Shop Vac and grounded it in such a way. One other note is to buy a decent quality bucket. The Home Depot orange buckets will suck down. The white buckets from HD will not have this problem. Buy a good quality lid also.

I’m wondering if this is why Oneida came out with the UDD or if it was just a move towards the better.  Dust collectors have been running for years with a simple braided copper wire wrapped around the length of the hose and connected to a known earth ground.  I own the UDD mainly for its compact nature, durability and ease of transport.  I dont know that Oneida has guaranteed that the FT UDD will not generate and transmit static, but I believe it has to be better than the standard DD.  If you have a known earth ground, simply get some old fashioned braided lamp ground wire, wrap it around the hose (1 complete revolution every 2-3”) and then connect it to earth ground, you will be as good as you can get.

I also added 1/2" ply to the lid - same HD bucket, silicone'd and bolt-though cyclone. I cut the circle is a bit too wide as the top doesn't completely 'water seal' to the bucket, but its pretty well locked on. It works fantastic and truthfully couldn't image needing more suction - post rationalizing, the lid is easier to take off and on and the bucket doesn't collapse, so... My second option was to epoxy 3-4 fins up the side of the bucket.
