Dust extraction and MFTC

Hi Everyone,

I ultimately ended up here after stumbling onto a youtube video of the awesome MFTC.

I bought the plans and have not yet started building it because I am in a choice crisis as to what to do about dust collection.

Space is a premium and that's why i like the MFTC as it will allow me to keep space use to a minimum when not getting used.

However if I build the MFTC as is my only real choice is the CTL SYS which as far as I can tell is OK but not great.

I keep mulling over if I should get a CTL MINI as it seems like better bang for the buck, but that wouldn't go into the MFTC.

Maybe I could modify the MFTC plans to carry a CTL Mini but then most of the space would be taken up in dust extraction.

Would appreciate people thoughts on the dilemma or maybe someone has already built something similar?

Cheers

Del

Welcome to the forum!  😃
Look into the CT-15. I own one along with a midi and they share the same size bags.
I typically will not run the bags to full, especially if I’ve done a drywall job, where the dust hinders the performance and makes the bags heavier. The larger midi has a larger bag and sits taller than a mini, same footprint, but gives you the large capability for the volume of the bag. The mini to me is not a best case scenario, but if you really needed to be compact and in tight quarters: working in attics, boats, on top of scaffolding, on a roof, etc. just my thought.
Let me know what you decide, I’m getting ready to build the same cart, but I would just leave the vacuum off to the side or under the bench if there was no bottom shelf?

Being largely a site carpenter, I love having a CT-Sys. But it's true that once you adapt the CT-Sys to shop use, it's not all that compact anymore.
