wondering if anyone can answer this i have a ct dust extractor on the end of the pie which goes on to the tool there are small moulded ridges which look like you should be able to twist and lock it into place i have a kapex saw, circular saw, planner, router.edge trimmer all have just smooth extraction mounts

Welcome to the board :)

If you are describing the bayonet fitting like this one below, it works on newer style tools, but also works on the older style non locking tools. Many folks aren't super happy with the bayonet style fittings *shrugs*. Some dust gets captured and fall out.

For tools like the Kapex, and a tracksaw you should be using a D36 a 36mm hose that goes over the fitting, although the smaller D27 27mm fitting will fit inside the tool fitting. For small routers and sanders a D27 27mm hose fitting is required, and goes over the fitting.

Festool made a change in their fitting design a couple of years ago. In the photos below you can see the change from the old ribbed style fitting to the newer bayonet fitting.

Thanks for your reply
Do you know if I can change the part on the tool to upgraded new ones slightly disappointed as some of the tools like the edge trimmer and planner were new last year so would expect they should be the upgraded model
