Hi guys
My festool table saw draws 1600 watts and the kapex 1500 watts. I need to get a dust extractor for them and I like the feature that automatically turns on the dust extractor when you power up the tool to cut.

I see on the specifications that for the MIDI the max appliance socket load is 700 watts and for the CTM 26 it's 2400 watts.

Should I take it from that that if I use the MIDI it won't have the power automatically turn on the kapex or Festool table saw?

Cheers, Andrew

I don't know if you use the midi if it will just simply not turn the saw on or not, or will maybe blow a fuse. Either way, both tools are very much over the allowed rating so it's a moot point, so I wouldn't be doing it!

Hi Andrew,

Your best route IMO is the CTL26. You won't need the CTM version unless you're doing site work where M-class is mandatory - the two versions of the machine are actually identical, using the same bags & filter - the only difference is that the M version also has an audible alarm to warn you that the filter's clogged (which yours never will be). So save some money and stay with L-Class.

Re power takeoff socket - the CTL26 will power anything which Festool makes - I use mine for everything including the 2200-watt OF2200 router. I also think that this machine's capacity is probably more suited to the amount of debris you'll generate using the equipment you mention. I'd also mention that upgrading to the 36mm hose will yield substantially improved performance (the CTL is supplied as standard with the 27mm).

Hope you get fixed up.

Is yours a Kapex EB or the new REB model?

In some of the old Kapex smoking motor discussions, one theory (never proven) was suggested that the EB motor burned because of under power from the circuit. I didn't have any problem using a CT26 and my Kapex EB. I now hook up my Kapex and shop vac to two separate 15A circuits (via an iVac auto switch).
