Managed to pick up a used DX 93 yesterday for a delightfully good price, and am expecting it to be delivered in a couple of days. I have that familiar excited look in my eyes that always causes grief...

Lovely but suspicious wife: Darling, you've got that look again. What have you done?
Me: What a terrible thing to say. I haven't done anything.
Lovely but suspicious wife: I don't believe you, you filthy tool-buying liar, I should have listened to my mother about you while I had the chance.

OK, I made that up, but it's not far from the truth. Anyway, I have a feeling this is going to be a very useful addition to the toy box, sorry, tool box, so will add a few thoughts on how it shapes up when it arrives. With some of the money I saved on the new price, I ordered a bunch of abrasives and the abrasive systainer to go with them, thereby saving EVEN more money. I know, I know, that doesn't quite make sense, but I'm practicing for when my lovely but suspicious wife rumbles me.

Cheers for now,
Rick

My wife has gotten sick of me telling her that "at that price, I'd have been stupid NOT to buy it".

However, she just drew the line on a used Minimax CU3000 Smart.  I thought it was cheap at $9000; she didn't agree.  I told her she needs to start working harder so that she can bring home more money.

Awesome machine.

I bought one a few months ago for a job. Worked great and then sat on the shelf leaving me in doubt as to whether I could have spent the money on something else. Well, as life happens, I refurbed some furniture last week and, needless to say I was  [thumbs up] when I dusted this baby off and started using it. It's just one of those machines that you really glad to have your arsenal of Festools. Life would be a lot more difficult without it.

Enjoy it  [drooling]

Amazing how many jobs you find to use a tool when you have it!  I love this sander and have already used it a couple of times of jobs that I wouldn't have been able to do previously. I've just replaced the pad with a new soft one as the last one was shot, but have you had any experience with the hard pad? I wonder if that would come in more useful.  Hmm, just thinking out loud, I guess.

Mac,

If you can believe it, I bought the DX93 back in March and have yet to use it.  I know I will, just have not had the need.  I actually have a few options other than hand sanding since I have a PC Profile Sander that I have had for about 12 years.  I think it still works.  I also have the MM with the tri sanding pads.

Just last night, I used my domino to join two boards in making a base for my scroll saw that I recently resurrected.  I was thinking to myself that I have not used the tool in months but when I needed it, there it was.
